Former President Donald Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump faced an unexpected incident at the United Nations in New York when the escalator they were on suddenly stopped before Trump's speech to world leaders.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called for a review of the situation, expressing concerns if the stoppage was intentional, urging accountability. UN officials, however, clarified that the stoppage was due to a safety feature and not deliberate interference.

Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric explained that a US videographer accidentally triggered the safety mechanism by walking backward on the escalator ahead of the Trumps. After confirming the system's proper functionality, technicians reset the escalator, and operations resumed normally.

During his address at the United Nations General Assembly, Trump humorously mentioned the incident and also improvised part of his speech when his teleprompter briefly froze. The event concluded without further problems, with both issues attributed to technical malfunctions.
